Toenail of the Week Picture: One stroke flower

One Stroke Flowers

One stroke is a technique that (for me at least) looks easy but is somewhat difficult to master. For those who don't know one stroke is the technique often employed in painting flowers. It involves loading one side of your brush with one color and the other side with another color so that when you move your brush in an up and down wave motion it forms the shape of a petal. That's the idea anyway haha. Click here to see a good video demonstration of this technique

This week I practiced this technique on my toes and added some green leaf accents. I was reasonably pleased with it but of course it could always be better. But practice makes perfect! When I feel confident enough in this technique I will try to post a tutorial. The important thing to remember about working with acrylic paints is you MUST use a clear topcoat to seal in the design or the paint will simply wash off.
All Supplies used to achieve this nail design

SUPPLIES:

Background color:
-Black Polish (baby size from sephora) I actually got it in a Christmas gift set from a friend. But the prices online I found range from $16.00-$24 for the box set that includes three nail polishes, stencils, and nail rhinestones. This is way more then I would ever pay myself but I will say that is is phenomenal quality polish and is totally opaque in one coat.
