Nail of the Week: One stroke white and blue flower and swirls

Chameleon Polish "Blue Sky" #C22
This week I wanted to do more work with one stroke, I am really trying to get better at this technique and I think I am slowly getting there. I think the design would have been prettier with black nail polish but I was getting bored with black and I really wanted to use this new color. Chameleon polishes are a drugstore brand that you can buy in most Rite Aid's and CVS. All the polishes in the line are duochrome (meaning depending on the light they can reflect different colors, almost appearing to change totally) Blue sky, the one I'm wearing this week is almost a triple chrome in certain lights, reflecting a combination of purple, blue, and shimmers of green. I love the idea of duochromes but I find that in general they tend to wear much flatter on the nail then they do in the bottle, in other words you lose alot of that duochromatic effect when you paint it, and actually this one was not really an exception. On the nails it pretty much just looks purple, slightly disappointing I know but it was still pretty! The formulation of the polish was quite good and it was almost opaque in one coat (although I used two just to ensure full coverage). For the flower design I used a small flat tip brush and the "one stroke" painting technique. I did one stroke in last week's nails as well and explained more in detail how this is achieved click here to check out last week's blogpost. I used a tiny dotting tool to draw the swirls and leaves in acrylic paint. I finished by adding a 3mm size blue rhinestone to the center of each flower. I hope you enjoy this week's design.
