my design inspiration |
I am still trying to get caught up from the last few weeks where I have been too busy to blog very much. So this particular design is not actually what I have on my toes this week but I wanted to share it anyway. I included my design inspiration, which is something I am thinking about doing more of on this blog. I always credit others when I do a design by someone else but I also get inspiration from a variety of place, (patterned fabrics, posters, embroidery, etc) and so I am thinking of including this as well. The design itself is pretty easy. I just painted my toes with two coats of Essie's "Brazilliant" from the Summer 2011 collection. Then I used a small size dotting tool and water based acrylic paint to create the design. Water based acrylic paint is a great alternative to nail polish for a complicated design since it does not dry quickly or get thick and gloopy and it can be washed off if you make a mistake. Water based acrylic paints are quite inexpensive, I purchase all of mine at Joann's fabric store for $0.59 a bottle (which lasts a really really really long time). The one note about acrylic paints is that you must add a good topcoat over your design or it will simply wash off. If you're feeling artsy this week why not try out a little bit of nail art with some of this inexpensive paint? It does not have to be anything fancy it can be something as simple as dots or a small heart or star. It's alot of fun and don't worry if it's not perfect, practice makes perfect :) Thanks for reading have a good day!
