So sorry for the bad quality of the pictures this week, like I have been saying in recent posts I think my camera is dying and sure enough I was right, it won't even turn on which is incredibly frustrating since I don't have a lot of money to replace it right now and I need it for this blog :( So the pictures this week are coming to you courtesy of my webcam, hence the graininess Hopefully I can get a new camera soon. Anyway on to the nails....I have been curious about Sally Hansen Salon Effects real nail strips for awhile but being the cheapo that I am I have been unwilling to fork over the $10 for a product you really only get one use out of .However this week I was browsing through Target and saw that there were three styles on clearance for four bucks so I decided to give it a shot. Now for those of you who don't know Sally Hansen created nail strips of real nail polish that basically work as a sticker. It comes in a packer of 16 strips that you peel off the back, apply to a nail, smooth it out. file off the excess at the top and then add a topcoat. It wears like real nail polish and can easily be removed with nail polish remover. I had heard great things about them. The bad news is I really hated them, the good news is I think it's just because of my particular nail shape. I have thin really curved nail beds where most people have flat wide nail beds. None of the strips fit my nails exactly. they were all too small and I am a fanatic about having no visible nail when I paint my nails so I actually had to cut little patches and apply the nail that the strip did not cover.....ugh not cute. I wasn't terrible upset because I didn't pay alot for them and I had also planned on adding art over the top the whole time anyway so my patches don't really show. I wanted to add something bright and summery and I think the turquoise floral pattern I added over the gingham gives the effect of almost a vintage tablecloth. I will not be purchasing the strips again but like I said I think they will work well for most people unless you have nails of my shape. I did manage to be a little stingy with the nail polish strips and cut pieces small enough for my toenails so I got kind of a two for one deal, not too shabby :) It was fun to try it out. Thanks for reading have a good week.
