Deborah Lippman "Across the Universe" $18-$20

I decided to do this week's blogpost on my newest polish "Hey Sailor Boy" by Icing brand nail polish. I came across this last week and snatched it up like a madwoman because I have been lusting over a polish by Deborah Lippman called "Across the Universe" forever and this is a very very very close dupe. Deborah Lippman polishes are an extremely high end brand retailing between $18-$20, not even close to affordable for the average Joe like me. In comparison Icing's "hey sailor boy" is an absolute steal retailing for $4.50 each and buy one get one half off if you get two. For those of you who don't know Icing is the grown up version of Claire's in the mall. If you follow my blog you know I have become a big fan of Icing brand nail polishes. Besides carrying some of the most unique shades on the market for a modest price tag, they are also great quality with a formula that requires an average of just two coats for full opacity with no streaking. The only caveat with Icing glitter polishes is that they do tend to apply a little gloppy sometimes. However this particular polish glided on smoothly and opaquely in two coats, a pleasant surprise when you consider many glitter polishes require 3-4 coats to be truly opaque. I don't own the Deborah Lippman polish but from reviews I have read the main difference is that the hexagonal glitters in the Icing polish are actually more densely compacted then the more expensive counterpart. I loved that about this polish since to me there is nothing more annoying then having to dig out and place the glitter on the nail with the brush rather then having it apply evenly over the nail surface. I highly recommend this polish and as you can see I liked it so much I decided to wear it alone with no design over the top, very unusual for me :). Thanks so much for reading. Have a wonderful week!
