As I mentioned before in this blog I was really struggling with what nails to do for my recent wedding. I wanted to do something special (of course) but also different from anything I have ever done before. I decided to go against the typical french mani grain and do this soft baby pink by Essie called "Pop Art Pink".

Unfortunately, beautiful as this color is it is one of Essie's rather streaky and thin formulas and required four thin coats to be opaque. As difficult as it was to work with I found the color payoff to be actually quite good. It was one of the few polishes I have seen that actually looks better ON the nail then in the bottle. On the nail it is just a tad more vibrant and turns out to be the edgy cousin to the nude romantic pinks like Essie's ballet slippers. I usually go for brighter colors but this one is just bright enough to add a little bit of edge but is still light and romantic. As with all Essie polishes (in my experience) the wear is terrific. With a good topcoat it easily wears for at least five days with no chipping. I used Essie's pop art pink for both my wedding and my honeymoon nail looks. Essie polishes retail for $8.00 but I purchased mine for $3.00 at Ross. If you're looking for a great low cost alternative I have a whole blog post comparing this color with it's wet and wild dupe "tickled pink".

For my honeymoon in Sharm El Sheikh Egypt I wanted a simple girly pink leopard print look that wasnt too fussy. After all who wants to spend time painting their nails on their honeymoon? For the second week I did a very simple red abstract design that was a little bit inspired by the beautiful sea life we saw while snorkeling in the red sea.
I actually had some beautiful pictures of my wedding manicure but unfortunately they were on the camera that went bye bye. Soo....I had to take a picture with a different camera which did not capture the color nearly as well and I took it when the manicure was a few days old. But it's the best I could do! Sooooo here it is! I was wearing alot of diamonds (fake) on my wedding day and I had roses embroidered on my lace sleeves so I chose to echo that theme.
easy/elegant wedding nails:
1) Paint your nails with your favorite soft pink
2) add topcoat
3) while the topcoat is still wet use a dotting tool to dip in the topcoat and pick up the 1MM rhinestones and the small pearls and arrange them in alternating pattern in two parallel rows across your ring finger, pinkie, and pointer.
4) using the same small dotting tool add the small rubber roses to the center of your middle finger and thumb. *tip it is better to use nail glue since these can be VERY prone to falling off even with a generous amount of topcoat. Unfortunately I did not have it on hand.
5) Add a rhinestone and a pearl to either side of the rubber rose.
6) using your dotting tool and white acrylic paint add two teardrops on either side of the rose and a small line of dots.
7) add topcoat and your design is complete
If you're wondering where to purchase some of the items used in this design they can all be purchased on ebay very inexpensively. Shipping is usually reasonably fast and reliable. I have provided links below to the sellers I purchased from. These are NOT affiliate links. I do not get paid if you click on them to purchase. This is just something I used to do when I first started the blog that I am going to start trying to do again.
