Nail of the week: Sparkly blue with one stroke red flower

After foregoing glitter for some time now I returned to it with a sparkly vengeance in this week's nail design. I have gotten some feedback from readers lately that they want less talk and more pictures so I will try to comply! Apologies if the pictures are slightly out of focus, I had to use my kindle to take the pics since my camera somehow went bye bye during my wedding. To complete this look:
1) Paint your nails two coats of your favorite blue color. I chose Orly's Stone Cold. I got this color for $4.00 at TJ Max which is known to carry some discontinued Essie, Orly, and OPI at half the retail price.
Orly "Stone Cold"
2) Paint a sparkly topcoat of your choice. I chose my favorite topcoat by Essense called "Night in Vegas" which is a perfect dupe for the now discontinued Essie flaky topcoat "Shine of the times"

3) Using a small liner brush/dotting tool/ or tip of a sharpened pencil and white water based acrylic paint add a thick line of very small dots going diagonally across the nail. I bought my dotting tools on ebay and my water based acrylic paint from Joann's Craft store.

4) Using the same tool add a line of topcoat framing your dots
5) sprinkle glitter over your nail and wipe the excess away with a fan brush. You should be left with two sparkly parallel lines framing your dots. I used red glitter I purchased at the Dollar Tree.
6) Using a small flat tipped brush and pink and red acrylic paint load half the brush with the red paint and half the brush with the pink paint. Sweep the brush up and down in a fan like zig zag motion to achieve the look of a petal. Repeat this five times to form a five petal flower.
7) Using your dotting tool and yellow acrylic paint add tiny dots in the center of your flower.
8) Using your dotting tool/liner brush/tip of a sharpened pencil and green acrylic paint form two almond shaped leaves at the top of the flower and two and the bottom of the flower.
9) Using your liner brush and white acrylic paint carefully outline the green leaves so that they stand out against your background color.
10) Add topcoat to seal in your design
And youre fininished! Thanks so much for reading and have a great week!
