Handpainted Burberry Pattern |
For this week's toenail design I chose one of my favorite patters, Burberry plaid. I love to do cartoon nails but I also love to do any time of pattern like animal prints (leopard, zebra, snakeskin) or polka dots or stripes. This is a challenging design because of the level of detail but I had alot of fun with it. It is 100% handpainted using water based acrylic paints and clear nail polish, to create a homemade sticker.. I discussed this homemade nail sticker technique in greater detail HERE:
Read about how to create homemade nail stickers here
This homemade nail sticker technique is a fun alternative to the sally hansen nail stickers and it is much easier to achieve a easy or a complicated nail art design for those who have difficulty painting a design directly onto the nail in particular with their non dominant hand. This was my first time making a nail sticker that actually covered the entire nail, usually I only paint a small character and apply it onto a solid background, and I have to say I achieved pretty good result. With two coats of topcoat the nail stickers stayed on for six days without chipping. That last step is very important any time you are working with acrylic paints to seal in the design since it will wash off without it. I had alot of fun doing this design and I hope you enjoy it! <3
