Frequently Asked Questions:
Whenever I do my cartoon nails in particular I tend to hear the same questions from people, ones that may occur to you as you see this week's nail of the week post are:
-Yes they are 100% handpainted.
-No I do not use nail polish to create the detailed cartoon characters I use water based acrylic paints. The reason is nail polish tends to dry relatively quickly and or get gloopy making it quite difficult to paint the design. Also if you make a mistake with nail polish it can ruin the whole design whereas with acrylic paints you can simply wash away that mistake with a cue tip and water. Also I have said it before and I will say it again but you must must use a topcoat when using acrylic paint on your nails to seal in the nail design since it will wash off.
-No I do not paint the cartoon directly on the nail, although I have before and the results have been ok, it is very tedious and difficult to achieve a level of detail while positioning your hand correctly. So I actually make homemade nail stickers using just ordinary clear topcoat and acrylic paint. This technique is much easier for creating a very detailed design. I did not create this technique I learned it from watching an amazing video blogger on youtube named Tartofraises. Click Here for Tartofraises youtube channelShe is a phenomenal nail artist and I have learned so much from her. I have provided a link to her tutorial for this technique here. I recommend checking it out. Most of her designs are definitely at a more advanced level but this technique can be adapted for simpler designs like flowers or small hearts for those new to nail art.

(sidenote: This used to be my absolute #1 go to color for probably all through my late teens and early 20's since I was really into vintage fashion I thought it was such a classic/sophisticated color. I hadn't worn it in such a long time and it was nice to return to it. I love a glossy red nail!)click here to purchase this
