This week I did an intricate brocade design inspired by the swirl and leaf pattern in our sofa believe it or not. It looks quite complicated but I actually achieved this with just white water based acrylic paint, a thin liner brush, and a small size dotting tool. I chose a shimmery brown color by Orly as the base called "Rockin Rockette". In my opinion Orly does not measure up to Essie in terms of wear, pigmentation, and quality, but the quality is still very good. Rockin Rockette was totally opaque in two coats with even, non streaky coverage. This color did come out just slightly darker on the nail then it appears in the bottle as you can see from my swatch below. On the nail it is definitely a true brown whereas on the nail it is more of a coppery brown. Orly polishes usually retail for around $8.00 but I purchased this color at Marshalls for $3.99. The main downside for me about Orly polishes is the giant rubber cap that makes it quite hard to hold the brush and paint smoothly and evenly.
