Nail of the week: Periwinkle Marble with One stroke flower

This week's nail art is a simple but elegant periwinkle marbled look with a one stroke flower accent nail. I have done a marbled nail art in the past but this time I achieved the results differently. This marbled look was actually done with no water and was much quicker and much less messy then regular water marble.

1) to begin with I painted my nails two coats of this gorgeous periwinkle shade by Essie called "smooth sailing". Periwinkle is my pick for the perfect spring nail color and I believe it is a grade shade to flatter many skintones.

2) using a small flat tip paint brush and two colors of water based acrylic paint, dip one side of your brush in one color and the other side in the other color. Blend the colors together by lightly pressing the side of the paintbrush on a spare piece of paper.

3) starting from the bottom corner of one of the nails quickly swipe the brush across the nail diagonally.

4) flip the brush around and swipe the brush across the nail again until the side of your nail is filled with color.

5) you can dip your brush in paint again if you wish to make the colors darker but make sure to flip the brush around on your second stroke so that the colors blend and "marble" together.

6) using a small size dotting tool outline your diagonal swipe with tiny white dots.

For the accent nail you will need to fill your brush with the exact same one stroke technique of dipping one side in one color and one side in another and blending it together gently.

1) touch the tip of the paintbrush to your nail and wave it up and down in a zig zag motion to form a leaf.

2) repeat until you have four leaves

3) using your small size dotting tool lightly outline the leaves with white water based acrylic paint

4) add dots to the inside of the flower thinning your paint with water if necessary to achieve small dots.

Optional:
5) using your small size dotting tool and white acrylic paint add accents to the side of the flower.

That completes this week's nail art design! I hope you enjoy it and try it out. Thanks for reading!

Where to purchase supplies
1) Essie nail polish: Essie nail polish usually retails for $8-9 depending on where you live. But I always had great luck scouring Ross, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx where I would routinely score Essie for just $3. If you have one where you live check it out. Essie nail polish is the best
