handpainted celtic knots on SHORT nails

So the most obvious change this week is SHORT NAILS! (super sad face) I was being a good samaritan at work this weekend and trying to help my neighbor pick up some stuff he was trying to haul that had spilled all over the ground. But when I handed it to him he accidentally bent my nail back and it cracked :( ouchies!!

Oh well ...the great thing about my nails is they actually grow very quickly AND in the meantime you will get to experience some fun nail art for shorter nails as well as super long :) Since I am feeling better this week I decided to do a design I've been wanting to try for awhile, celtic knots. Surprisingly they weren't as difficult to achieve as you might think and I was able to paint them directly onto the nail using a detailing brush and water based acrylic white paint. I finished by outlining the knot in black paint. I used a dark green for the base color in keeping with the theme.

The dark green was a great forest green by Sally Hansen Insta Dry that I picked up this week at my local Dollar Tree (score! that polish usually sells for $4.99 at Rite Aid) I had used the Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top coat before and found it pretty mediocre but I gave this one a shot because, for a dollar you can't go wrong! I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This particular polish was totally opaque in just one coat and applied smoothly with no streaking!

I hope you like this week's design. Keep checking back for more designs on my newly short nails :) Have a great week and thanks for reading!
